Trying to break up the Covid boredom

To break the boredom, we drove up to Mount Charleston today. We didn’t visit the bar at the Mount Charleston Lodge, or the restaurant at the Mount Charleston Resort – but both were packed. The parking lots were completely full.

We first headed to Lee Canyon where the ski resort is. We had hoped to maybe see a wild burrow or a wild horse. While we didn’t see any burrows, we scored big on the wild horse front. Maybe there are more showing themselves due to the smaller crowds during the pandemic. We must have seen half a dozen in different spots. This one was just chilling in one of the grassy play areas, where nobody is playing right now.

Yesterday while I was out getting in my morning steps with Kona – I was getting steps while Kona was pooping and peeing – we spotted two out of the ordinary things along Youngtown Street. (Youngtown Street seems odd to me for a neighborhood in Sun City.) We spotted a Yellow Headed Blackbird hopping around in a tree. Then, just strolling down the middle of the street, we spotted a very healthy-looking coyote. Bonus!

Our last venture out in the car was to see the new Intermountain Healthcare Performance Center – a very fancy name for the Henderson based headquarters and practice facilities for the Las Vegas Raiders football team. While not quite open to the public yet, the facility looks pretty much done. Between this, Allegiant Stadium where the Raiders will play, all the facilities for the Golden Knights, and the new casinos soon to open, Las Vegas has changed quite a bit since the last time we were here for any amount of time.

We hope to be talking to you soon.
